When the foot excessively pronates this causes shearing and tractional forces on the achilles tendon, at the back of the heel and inflammation can occur together with tightening of the calf muscles.
As the heel rolls inward (pronates) it causes misalignment and abnormal stresses on the tendon, lumpy scar tissue may occur, commonly called "pump bumps".
The same mechanism has been linked to Restless Leg Syndrome, Sever's Disease and "growing pains" in children.
Pedistep® realigns the heel bone and controls the amount of pronation by using two densities of material to control and give the wearer comfort at the same time thus reducing the traction on the tendon and pressure on the attachment. |
